In the run-up of the High Torque Power Drive (HTP)™ drive system development we conducted numerous conversations with specialists from all areas of inland navigation about the question how a modular redundant drive should be developed.
We would like to emphasize the influence of the DST (Entwicklungszentrum für Schiffstechnik und Transportsysteme, Development Center for Vessel Technology and Transport systems) in Duisburg. Inspired by the ideas and questions of Joachim Zöllner of DST in Duisburg, we asked ourselves how the increase in efficiency of inland navigation vessels by up to 25%, introduced in his lecture on the ZKR climate conference in Bonn in June 2009, could actually be realized. The result of these thoughts is the High Torque Power Drive (HTP)TM drive system.
